Riding a motorbike over a lake

If you live on a lake and happen to be an impatient nutcase on a motorbike, then this will be of massive interest to you. For everyone else, it is kind of cool. The final and most impressive one across Lake Como had a kind of water-skimming attachment thing on the front wheel but it is still incredible – the addition is tiny. I’m always looking for cheap and efficient ways to travel. I spend most of my time in Bangkok and London and there are tons of great places and nearby countries I want to visit. Until I can get a flying car or jetpack, maybe aquatic motorbike travel will do.

First off, let’s have two people I trust implicitly to try this sort of thing – Jamie Hyneman and Adam Savage from Mythbusters. Jamie is on a standard motorbike with quite narrow tires and he still does pretty well:

Quite impressive. Next up is an Aussie. It is unclear just how deep it is but if you look around halfway through the clip, he is definitely in some kind of expanse of water. As this is Australia, there are probably crocodiles, deadly snakes and killer aquatic koalas all around, giving the motorbike driver a good reason to keep going.

Finally… drumroll… an Italian stuntman who I think is called Luca Colombo (my Italian is rusty) drives across Lake Como. This fellow has the aforementioned attachment on the front wheel. If he lives on the lake, then I imagine this is very handy for popping to the shops and so on. I guess this is all pretty niche – motorbikes on lakes is quite specific – but I thought it was pretty impressive and didn’t even know this was an option in my daily commute.
