New Year productivity and a shift in focus

Happy New Year, everyone! Lots of people I know seemed to have had a pretty crap 2025 – I hope you aren’t one of them – but I think we can all agree that 2026 currently has unlimited potential for greatness.

At least I hope so.

This year, I am shifting focus slightly. I am definitely not going back to Fiverr. They take the side of the person paying and demote you even if, for example, you are asked to write some right-wing awfulness, and you point out the topic is morally wrong. I don’t want to get sued, so let’s say that was a potential scenario or something I heard, and not something that happened. I wasn’t particularly enjoying it anyway.

Websites, Medium, Substack, and fiction

Blogs are back! I think. But they may have gone again, I can’t keep up. Either way, I will be writing about things that interest me here, on Scifi Ward, and on my Intriguing Times publication on Medium and Substack. None of them pay particularly well, but they are a lot of fun.

For this site, I will be adding in more history, including articles from Medium and Substack – but here they will be free. I’ll still be doing my usual reviews and the odd fascinating insight / rant.

There will also be a book coming out that gathers some stories in one handy series of books. Hopefully this month. Don’t worry, I will be plugging the hell out of it here.

There’s going to be some fiction too

I’m publicly declaring that this will be the year I write a book. I read somewhere you are more likely to do something if you say it publicly to others. So that has been stated. I will also be writing a couple of short stories, because, like blogs, they are back in a big way.

And that is it for now. There are a couple of minor things going on, but that’s enough to be looking out for.

I hope you are at that sweet spot of the new year where you hangover has gone, but you have yet to fail all your resolutions and haven’t gotten you credit card bill. Enjoy this brief time.

And Happy New Year!
