Incredible video of London in 1924
This is pretty amazing. An incredibly old, or incredible and old, video clip of London in 1924 has surfaced and appeared all over my news feeds. I was pretty excited when I saw it as I have spent half my life in London. My family is from London. My grandad was almost a teenager when this was filmed and may even be in this clip for all I know.
In some ways, it seems really familiar. A lot of central London looks exactly the same. There are still open topped double deckers (now for tourists) and shots of places like the Houses of Parliament are obviously unchanged. But there are differences. If you look beyond Parliament, for example, there are a ton of buildings missing. There isn’t a Starbucks in sight or a twat walking along looking at their mobile phone. Plus, pretty much everyone is in a hat, which would be a truly glorious time to be alive.
