Skull and Bones trailer
First off, I should apologise to anyone who regularly visits this site. I have been on holiday and not posted much. By much I mean bugger all for ages. I was travelling and having adventures and so forth. This has possibly made someone, somewhere, a little upset. If you are anything like me, then you will be cheered up by pirates. Because why wouldn’t you? Pirates, especially fictional ones, are awesome. So get excited for Skull and Bones!
One of my all time favourite games is Black Flag, which is an Assassin’s Creed game but mostly just a fun pirate tale that had a vague assassin link added. It was really, really fun. This game is allegedly based on Black Flag and in particular, the sea battles. I think they are going to skip all the bits where you run around searching for song sheets or clambering over rooftops or fighting on deck and climbing the rigging. Essentially, they are cutting out all the Assassin’s Creed bits and sticking with the insanely enjoyable sailing around shooting cannons at suckers bit. As long as they get the physics of sailing around and blasting cannons correct, I am totally in. They can even keep the shanties and I will be happy.
Skull and Bones isn’t due to be released until 2019 or possibly even 2020. Pirates and programmers are notoriously resistant to deadlines. It seems like the game will have, according to sources, a single player game as well as the main focus, which is online. You can team up with fellow pirates or go PvP. Or possibly both. Things are vague but the Ubisoft website has more information and booty here. I am very, very excited about this and would board and pillage the good ship Ubisoft if I thought the game was in its metaphorical hold. Except I suspect, with a certain amount of irony, that piracy of the game will be discouraged.
Anyway, without further awkward pirate-related banter, here is a superb trailer:
