Marvel’s Hawkeye TV show looks a lot of fun
At long last, Hawkeye is getting his own film. And it looks a shitload of fun. The time of worrying about whether Marvel will make a decent job of things passed a long time ago. A couple films in Phase One weren’t great but since then they keep banging out belters.
The idea of a Hawkeye TV show has been around since 2019. Interestingly, the show will be introducing Kate Bishop who becomes ‘Hawkeye’ in the comics. (I had to Google that.) Does this mean Renner will be off doing other things, like chilling with his family? Probably. It seems to be his arc. But it doesn’t mean the final end as let’s face it, these kinds of characters are frequently tempted to do just one last job. Or a at least a cameo.
Happily, the show comes out on the 24th November, so there is not long to wait. Here is the blurb:
Disney+ and Marvel Studios invite you on an unexpected holiday getaway, unwrapping a brand-new teaser trailer and poster today for “Hawkeye,” a new series set in post-blip New York City. Former Avenger Clint Barton has a seemingly simple mission: get back to his family for Christmas. Possible? Maybe with the help of Kate Bishop, a 22-year-old archer with dreams of becoming a Super Hero. The two are forced to work together when a presence from Barton’s past threatens to derail far more than the festive spirit.
Starring Jeremy Renner as Clint Barton/Hawkeye and Hailee Steinfeld as Kate Bishop, “Hawkeye” also features Vera Farmiga, Fra Fee, Tony Dalton, Zahn McClarnon, Brian d’Arcy James and newcomer Alaqua Cox as Maya Lopez. Helmed by Rhys Thomas and directing duo Bert and Bertie, “Hawkeye” debuts exclusively on Disney+ on November 24, 2021.
And without further ado, here is the trailer:
