Haunted Thailand ebook is almost ready
Many moons ago I wrote an article for a Bangkok Magazine called Haunted Thailand. Actually, it was called Ghosts in Thailand or something but my editor changed it and frankly, it is a lot better. It was a print magazine but I copied it to this site. You can read the article here. I had always been interested in a lot of the stuff that I learned about the spirits and ghosts in Thailand so I thought I would write an ebook. Well, that is almost done.
I am now working on book covers and doing final edits. The next stage will be sending it Thai friends to see if I missed any major ghosts or spirits. Then a few others just to see if it is interesting. Personally I find it fascinating.
Just to wet your appetite, here is an excerpt at the start of a section dealing with a surprisingly common spirit:
A Krasue, sometimes called Pii Krasue, is a spirit that haunts most of Southeast Asia. It has also been the subject of numerous films that occasionally try and give a bit of back-story, but generally speaking, any woman can become a Krasue if they are not careful. Versions of the Krasue (which is the Thai name) include Ahp in Cambodia and Kasu in Laos with versions also appearing in the folklore of Malaysia, Vietnam, the Philippines, and Indonesia.
The Krasue are delightfully gory consisting of the floating head with entrails and internal organs dangling from the neck. They usually manifest themselves as attractive young women with bloody hanging innards and float about accompanied by an eerie glow. Sometimes they even have fangs like a vampire.
This is raw and unedited stuff but should give you an idea of the ghoulishness that awaits. Haunted Thailand will be out in a week or two. Obviously I will be publicising the hell out of it.
