Accounting VR Game
I have had Accounting VR on my Playstation hard drive for a while and last night, on a whim (caused by finishing Spiderman), I thought I’d give it a go. I guess I had been put off by the title. There is nothing about Accounting that appeals to me and if the talents behind Rick and Morty weren’t involved, I probably wouldn’t have bothered.
My god, I am glad that I did. I had a grin on my face for the next 45 minutes that only ended because the game had finished. It is not only funny, but it is also very Rick and Morty like with you diving into ever deeper VR – VR in VR if you will.
The game begins with a soothing voice welcoming you and congratulating you on doing simple tasks. You then start the VR Accounting program proper. You are at a desk and press an intercom to talk to two people in another office (co-creator William Pugh is the main one). They talk about some new Accounting VR thingy and after I had tidied my desk a little (I may not like accounting but I like a neat work desk), I found a VR headset. I put that on and was suddenly in a forest where a thing – see the picture above – sticks out of a tree and hurls abuse at you in the voice of Morty (R&M creator and voice actor Justin Roiland). You then eventually find another VR headset and are transported to an alley where some weird creatures recruit you to their gang. Eventually, you find another VR headset and so on and so on.
Things get pretty mental and you do all sorts of weird shit and end up coming back through the VR world’s you are in by… well I won’t ruin it. Think dreams within dreams like in Inception except more nuts and really funny.
I cannot recommend Accounting + VR enough. I played on the PlayStation but it is on every platform. It is a relatively short experience but one you will want to do again once you figure out what you are supposed to do and just want to enjoy the sheer joyous madness of it all.
