New Substack, The Cosmic Scroll, is essential reading

I started a new Substack called The Cosmic Scroll. If you’re a writer, you will probably know the importance of having an email list. If you are a writer without one, like I am, you have also likely experienced mild twinges of guilt for not having one.

I get them all the time and thought it was time to change.

The Cosmic Scroll is a science fiction and fantasy (SFF) newsletter that is a weekly news source for everything happening in the world of SFF. If that sounds like something you’re interested in you can subscribe here.

You can check out the latest post here. It looks at everything I found interesting over the past week, including seasons two of One Piece and Sandman going into production and releasing cast lists; the first trailer for a new Hellboy film; new reboot news, including The Crow, Highlander, and The Running Man; a new book co-written by Keanu Reeves and China Mieville; and lots more.

If you don’t care about SFF, then reading about my Substack journey might be interesting

If you are toying with starting a Substack newsletter, then check in here in the future – set a reminder or something – and I will share how it is all going. End any possible guilt pangs by finally starting a newsletter and gathering those lovely email addresses.

I am toying with starting a separate newsletter for my Medium stories, but that is a plan for the future. I own those stories, and several went viral. During Covid, several articles went viral, and I got $4000 from my top two performing stories, despite the paywall. Now I am lucky to get $10 a month. Although to be fair, I only publish every couple of months these days.

At present, everything I do on Substack is free. I will add affiliate links to pay for everything. That might change in the future. I am currently just learning how it all works and seeing the potential.
